Overview

Saranda is a coastal city located in the extreme south of Albania, in front of Corfu Island, with more than 300 sunny days. This wonderful bay that stretches along the crystal-clear water of the Ionian Sea sometimes reminds you of Monaco. "Xhiro" is the typical walk up and down the beautiful promenade, full of cafes, bars, and restaurants with traditional food and delicious desserts, inviting you to enjoy it at any time of the day, as night falls, Saranda lights up with music and joy. The streets buzz with energy, inviting you to join in.

The visit starts at the port of Saranda, where today there are still some ruins of the old port of Onhezm, from which the ancient city takes its name.

We continue with the old castle of the city, where some fragments of it still remain today. There is a small industrial market in this place. You will have the opportunity to see a traditional way of shopping that dates back to the Ottoman occupation. After that, we stop at the pepper tree.

The other interesting stop is the bunker, where you will learn about the long isolation and paranoia during the evilest dictatorship in Southeastern Europe.

Then we will walk along the old harbor where the Russian general Zhukov stopped after his visit, as well as get to know the history and other names that the city got, Porto Eda and Saranda.
